Terrific local bistro. Great service and food.

My husband and I started eating here when it first opened and the food was great then. It's been a year or so and going back, the food was still excellent. Kudos to the chef and owner, Paul. Thank you for keeping the food fantastic with every year!

A hidden gem off the beaten path. Delicious artisanal food.

This place has no sign and looks closed from the outside. The food is always wonderful, the duck breast is awesome - and I'm not a huge fan of duck! The menu changes often and they typically have a few special items that are off menu and presented by the servers.

Chef owned bespoke restaurant. Not for gluten freebies, vegans or other food Nazis. Also don't bring kids. Casual setting for first class food.

Warm, cozy, elegant atmosphere, attentive service and finely prepared food make for a wonderful evening out. My wife had the lamb popsicles, rare. They were succulent and perfectly spiced with salt and, perhaps, sage. I had the fish of the day -- halibut, seared with a whipped beurre blanc sauce and sliced pears. marvelous. Wine menu is solid - French and Californian -- that offer varietals that well match the food. We shared a lovely petit chablis, which probably should have been served slightly warmer, closer to room temperature. Left in the glass, it warmed up over the course of the meal and made for a fine complement to the whole meal. Last, the homemade mini-french bread, which you have to order and pay for, is a warm chewy wonderland that went well with our appetizer-- a garbanzo bean, olive oil, sausage, calamari tapenade with sweet tomato sauce that we enjoyed sopping iup after we ate the beans and calamari rings.

Great high-end food at a very reasonable price. The HVAC may need a little tuning up though...

Our meal was wonderful. A hidden jem right here in Altadena. We started with the Bacon wrapped dates and were treated to the beef wellington for our entree. Everything was extraordinary. The service was attentive, very friendly and knowledgeable. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Love this restaurant, and has become a place for special celebrations because of the great food and atmosphere. The way menu items stay the same with different preparations is fantastic, and ensures familiarity without becoming stale. The wine list is well selected, and staffs knowledge of food/wine pairings is wonderful.

Alta Eats is hidden with no signs visible so it is incredibly easy to get lost. Just look for it on the main street where a nice red coverup is situated. Its like walking into a secret restaurant but really its not that secretive! The food was really good and we tried a good amount of different things, i have to say their homemade fries and sauce was probably on the top of the list. The sauces on my beet salad was also tremendous and full of flavor I never thought fit so well together !

This is a hidden neighborhood gem. Creative menu, perfectly prepared food and excellent service. We're lucky to have this restaurant here!

The food was delicious. The service was GLACIAL, considering we were one of two parties in the restaurant!

Hidden gem. Come here, even if you have to drive an hour. The roasted cauliflower is awesome and I'm not a big fan of cauliflower. I have never had anything here I didn't like.

Possibly the best restaurant in Los Angeles (in my opinion). Paul is an incredible chef, and his menu is brilliant, perfectly balancing homey comfort food with slightly more upscale cuisine and ingredients. The wait staff consists of some of the nicest people I've ever met, and I've never had a bad experience there. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

There are no signs outside of the restaurant, just look for the red awning. The quinoa and crispy kale salad, pork and polenta and duck breast were delicious but the mushroom and crab dish was overpowered by the cheese. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Will return to try more.

I get to eat here a lot since I work right next to it. I must say their service is always excellent and they keep the place clean at all times. Prices are fair and they serve generous portions.

I have been to this restaurant twice and loved it both times! Last time I went was on Valentine's day...we had a reservation. They were running a little behind but opened up Altabeverages for those waiting for a table and kept pouring us free champagne and fed us cookies! We weren't waiting that long but it was a nice way to pass the time. At the restaurant there was a nice tasting menu with everything from a tasty amuse bouche to dessert. I would come back here any time

This restaurant is awesome and broad, the meals was yummy and the rates were very economical. rapidly, efficient service and very affable staff. I recommend this place.

Once you find it (no exterior signage), you’ll be glad you did. Hanger steak was excellent as were the scallops. We’re going back the next time we’re in Altadena.

Super friendly staff, delicious food. No name over the door so you need to know what you are looking for. Next Vic's Cleaners. We were there to celebrate my brother's 10th wedding anniversary to his foodie wife. A Monday night and all but one table was reserved. Definitely call in advance and make a reservation!

Picked up using no contact pick up. We got the short ribs menu. Pickup was efficient. Food was delicious.

Delicious food, creative menus that change very regularly (most of the menu items are up on a chalkboard each night) and great staff. Oh yeah, and interesting wine list as well. Highly recommended.

Pricey, but had duck that I actually enjoyed alot.

This restaurant is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to this restaurant. when I feel like having a proper lunchon, this is the place that comes straight to my mind. extremely good and all kinds of food and a rich menu.trained crew, and pleasant atmosphere. And very important, the price is modest. I suggest this place with pleasure.

Always like Altaeats. Small , cozy and friendly neighborhood restaurant. There is no sign or any indication of restaurants from the outside but the delicious smell.coming out from inside definitely make you wonder. Weekly specials are very interesting, it is perfect to share with a few friends (so you can try everything). Need to come back to try out their special chef's office tasting menu.

This is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The food never disappoints. Make sure you say Hi to Chef Paul if he is in the house. If not, his chefs are also outstanding.

No exterior markings, only the address. You would never know it was there if you weren't looking for it. The food was very good, the staff was great!

Discrete restaurant and a local gem. The food is delicious and the staff are great.

Cute decor. Food was good. But something different was cold on every plate. Cold mashed potatoes or cold creamed kale, etc. Server didn't seem to care. 😕

Got seated at the back counter despite having a reservation (we were dressed up, not that it should make a difference). Portions seemed to have further shrunk since the last time we ate here 8 mos ago, ie 4 pieces of bacon-wrapped dates ($9). Bowl of chickpeas with a few calamari ($14). Food was fine, nothing amazing. Overall mediocre experience for $$$.

Fois Gras was delicious. Tomahawk steak was delicious. Mashed potatoes have a very mouth watering texture. Mystery wine was worth it. Pork was super juicy with flavorful chimichurri
